Videography
While I can tell stories through multiple media outlets, videography is my favorite. I love being able to capture raw emotion, cinematically tell a story, and piece together a complex story. My video skills can be used to create a wide range of videos from profiles, to documentaries, advertising, and reels. I have worked with studio equipment for broadcast TV, filmed with crews, and worked independently.
The War Beneath the Waves
The War Beneath the Waves was my senior thesis, and is one of my proudest projects. I spent a lot of time researching and integrating myself into this niche area to make sure I could best tell this complex story. I felt that this story was important to tell not only because of sharks importance to our oceans, but the fact that this issue is underreported. I am really proud of how I pieced together this story to highlight the tensions within the shark community, the difficulties in their management, and highlight the United States importance in protecting sharks. Saving Sharks
Saving sharks was the fourth video I had ever filmed and edited. Looking back, there are things I would change such as interviews set ups, and quailty of B-roll. At the time, those aspects were acceptable to where I was in my film education and I have since grown and learned as a filmmaker. I've chosen to include this film as it really highlights my storytelling abilites and was the start of investigating a much larger story. I am really proud of the sound desgin in this video, and the way I was able to interconnect my interviewees to tell their stories. Work: Independent Project. This work was shot, directed, and edited by Jenna Boerst. Drone and archival footage are credited in video credits.
